Pokémon X & Y Announced – First full 3D Handheld Games!

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have just been announced as the next games in the main Pokémon series and are coming to 3DS worldwide in October 2013! 5 new Pokémon have been shown so far, 3 of which have been named and appear to be the new starters.

Also shown is what appears to be 2 new legendary Pokémon, although no names was given.

It’s early days yet but from what little has been seen so far, Pokémon X & Y seem to be even more revolutionary than Black & White. I’f you’d like to see some footage of the game in action, then check out the Nintendo Direct announcement video below. Footage of the new games starts at 7:20

What’s new in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2?

Two brand new adventures for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS have just been released, Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, which will be exciting news for anyone who has enjoyed any of the titles in the Pokémon games series so far.

Diehard fans of Pokémon games and of the predecessors to the new titles, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version (released in March 2011) may be asking – what’s different about the new versions of the games? Let’s take a look.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 may carry on where the previous games left off, but an awful lot has changed in the last couple of years.

Locations

The locations you travel through as you progress in the game are amongst the biggest changes in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.

The action is still set in the region of Unova, as you may remember from the original Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version. However, there are many new locations to explore in the new version of the game, as well as changes to familiar places for you to check out. You’ll find many of the new locations when you start the game and start to explore the Western side of Unova.

One exciting new area you’ll encounter in the game is the Black Tower and White Treehollow in the Black City and White New Forest, where there are chances to purchase rare items and keys for the eKey system.

The new locations in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 also feature new Pokémon for you to collect, and some of these Pokémon you won’t have been able to get in the earlier versions of the game.

Pokéstar Studios

Another exciting new feature of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 is Pokéstar Studios, which can be found in Virbank City. This bustling, vibrant location will give you lots to see and do, but make sure you visit Pokéstar Studios where you will be able to create your own hit movie. You can only do this once you’ve defeated Gym Leader Roxie and her Poison-type Pokémon, but once you’ve won the battle and made your film, you’ll be able to move on to the next location.

Legendary new Pokémon

The ultimate aim of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 is to discover two new Legendary Pokémon, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. These Dragon Pokémon have devastating new Ice-type moves and abilities, so are well worth tracking down!

Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex  3D Pro

Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro are two brand new downloadable games that will be exclusively available for players enjoying the game on a Nintendo 3DS console. Pokémon Dream Radar is a virtual-shooting game which allows you to catch Pokémon to add to your Pokédex in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. Pokédex 3D Pro, on the other hand, gives you access to all the information you need on each Pokémon to become a Master Trainer via the National Pokédex.

Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition and Black2 & White2 news

Right, lets get the easy stuff (that I forgot to post, sorry) out of the way first. Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition, the strategy DS game that gives all the waring characters of the Nobunaga’s Ambition franchise some Pokémon to fight with, WILL be geting an english translation. This is suprising as the Nobunaga’s Ambition series is vastly unknown outside of Japan. That said, so was the Mystery Dungeon series when Pokémon got introduced to it and it became a worldwide hit. In America, the game’s going to be called Pokémon Conquest and here’s a shot of the box art:

The US will be getting the game released on June 18th. The game has also just recently recieved a rating for release in Austalia, indicating a Pal Release. The game will be getting a G rateing but interestingly its been rated under the title Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition, so whether the game will change its name closer to release or if its being released with its Japanese name is currently unknown. What’s also unknown is any details on a European Release, chances are high, however there’s no details for Europe yet.

Right, lets get onto the really cool stuff. CoroCoro magazine has started to surfice on the internet and this month, Lots of Black2 and White2 news is inside. Pokémon Smash is due to reveal this info this Sunday in Japan, historically its not revealed much more so this is all the infomation we’ll probably have for a few weeks, but Pokémon Smash is due to have some video action of B2&W2 so we’ll hopefully be able to link you to that at the weekend.

So that’s the world map… and there’s a fair bit of Ice covering it. Why? Maybe because Kyurem has done something to the world, Maybe its something to do with Global Warming… or maybe its an effect to hide parts of the map so we can be surprised later on. Why would we need to be suprised. Well despite that B2&W2 are still set in the Unova region, the games are actually set 2 years after the first and as such, there’s been a few changes around the place. We know that there are new area’s of the map, as well as changes to existing places, Route 4, for example, not only has the road between the Nimbasa and Castelia been completed, but there looks like there’s a setlement popped up. And the moat that surrounds the Entra Link has dried up. There’s a lot of minor differences between this artwork and the original Unova Artwork, including Liberty Guarden, where Victini is found… maybe Victini wont need an event this time around?

other info from this page, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem’s both height and weight’s are revealed. Black Kyurem is 3.3m tall and 325 kg while White Kyurem is 3.6m tall and 325 kg. We also know that Black Kyurem will know Freeze Shock while White Kyurem will know Ice Burn.

Lastly on this page, details on the new Unova Pokédex. In Black and White, it was hinted that some, if not all, of the none Unova Pokémon had escaped from the transfer lab. Well now they’re becoming Nationalised as a lot of Pokémon are added to the Unova Dex. Cranking up from 156 to 300, its adding pokemon such as Psyduck at 026, Riolu at 033, and Metagross at 246 (with thier evolutions at assuming the numbers next to them). The dex is also adding Arcanine, Lapras, Eevee, Mareep, Tyranitar, Buneary and Weavile (along with thier Evos, presumably) amongs others old and new in the dex.

The next page shows characters. On the right are the two new trainers, male and female, that you’ll have to chose from in Black2 & White2… While the guy in the red shirt on thier left is the new Rival. Aparently in one of the boxes he’s quoted as saying ‘From now, I’m going to rage!’ – so he’s going to be a bit more anger managment issues than the last rival. He is, however, still a childhood friend of the rival. The girl with the guitar will show up in an Anime Episode in Japan in June, She’s Homika, a new Poison Gym Leader. Her gym is aproriatly a Club where live bands play.

Although you could see these two new characters on the last image, this is a better shot of these two. The tanned guy in the tight blue swimming costume is Shizui, the new Water Gym Leader. Akuroma is the new researcher, who’s looking into Pokémon Strength (probably in general and not the HM move as I first thought when I read that) – he’s described as a bit mysterious.

One of the new towns will be Hiougi City, its on the south West of the map and shown in images at the top left of the scan above. It’s going to be the new starting city for our new trainers. Its got a cool lookout area, and contains a Trainer School and a Pokémon Center. Again, changing the rules of Pokémon games, no player has started off in a City, or had a Trainer School or Pokémon Center in thier home town… so 3 new firsts in one place! The bottom of that page shows off some of the new buildings around Unova. The coolest one, an underwater tunnel you can walk through, with Mantine that floats by over head… even if there are no other fish that float above you – that is awesome in my book!

The issue also contained little info about the next Pokémon movie, Kyurem & The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo, and the Pikachu Short, Meloetta’s Sparkling Recital. Nothing major here, but it does highlight Meloetta’s secondary form, the Pirouette Forme, so that’s cool

That’s all we’ve got for now. Any more pops up we’ll throw it up and hopefully, at the weekend we’ll have some video of Black2/White2 in action.

PokePark2: Wonders Beyond Release

This Friday March 23th sees the release of PokePark2: Wonders Beyond released for wii. The sequel to last years PokePark Adventure sees Pikachu teaming up with the Unova Starters to investigate a brand new PokePark when other pokemon start to disapear.

We’ve gotten news that on Saturday 24th, if you happen to be in the London Area, the Brent Cross store of Toy’s R Us are doing a treasure hunt competition were 25 lucky people can win a copy of the game. Action starts from 10am and there’s some other goodies as well up for grabs – check in that store for details. Unfortunatly it seems to be the only store doing this event, so if your not in the area, then your out of luck.

If your interested in PokePark2 and want to know more, check out these trailers first. Some of them feature some really cheesy music – which is something I personally like (am I the only one who misses the pokeraps?)

We’ll bring you more news when we learn it

News that passed us by

Apart from random updates to some minor features on the site, we’re actually pretty busy back here at The Pika Club. As such, some big news has actually managed to pass us completly without our realising it. But thankfully I’m used to doing news round ups.

Ok, first up, the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine has been released in Japan. Not a lot of info was in it regarding Black 2 and White 2, other than showing the new Box Covers (which we’ll upload into a new Black 2 & White 2 Gallery), which confirmed that these games will be DSi Enhanced like thier predesessors (dont get too excited, as Black & White’s DSi Enhanced was only a ‘Face Time’ like App that only worked over the Wireless Connection). What the Magazine seems to say though was that Black 2 & White 2 WILL be a new story and have new fetures. This means that Black 2 & White 2 are the first Direct Sequel games for the main pokemon franchise.

The Magazine also revealed Keldeo’s Download promotion for Japan this year. Keledo, the Colt Pokémon, is the 4th Legendary Musketeer Pokemon along with Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion and will feature in this years Movie. Keldeo will be given away at level 15, and have Aqua Jet, Sacred Sword, Hydro Pump and Close Combat. What’s interesting is that this seems to be the Pre-Order give away Pokemon. Every year, japanese people who pre-order thier tickets for the Pokemon movie are able to download a special pokemon, while a second pokemon is usually given away at movie theaters during the run of the movie itself. Usually the latest event pokemon (and star of the movie) is the one given away at theaters, to have Keldeo as a pre-order bonus is interesting. It also seems to confirm the rumours that Meloetta will be given away this year as well, since the Musical Pokemon will be staring in this years Pikachu short. The reveal of a Meloetta give away was accidently revealed on the Japanese version of the official site. No Dates or move set on the Meloetta, but the Keldeo give away is between June 23rd – August 31st and will be downloadable to Black, White, Black2 and White2.

Oh and here’s the important one – Got an English version of Black or White – quick, Wi-Fi Mystery Gift NOW. A level 100 Zekrom is available to download if you have black while Level 100 Reshiram is available if you have White. They also have the special Moves Mist and Haze respectivally. AND what’s cooler is if you upload that pokemon to the dream world, it will unlock a special section that will let you get a special Zekrom or Reshiram C-Gear. You can only get one of the c-gears depeding on which pokemon you uploaded and you can only get 1 per game, so no chance of getting both – The pokemon are available via Wi-fi until 8th April so get on it now!

That’s all the news we seemed to have missed, we’ll bring you more when we learn it. If you think you can help out with bringing TPC with all the latest Pokemon News, please contact us. details are on our contact page

Munchlax Calculator Update

Some time ago I added a little tool to this site called the Munchlax Calculator which allowed you to work out which honey trees you could slather honey on to attract Munchlax in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I left it and forgot about it for a long time until recently when it was brought to my attention that it was: 1) the number 1 result on Google for “Munchlax Tree Calculator” and 2) it was receiving decent daily traffic. As such, I decided to remake the calculator layout as it was very bare bones and did not even link back to our homepage before.

The new Munchlax Calculator

I have also added our Random Team Generator script to the tools menu as I did not realise it was missing. Contact professional California movers to give you an advice on moving into a new house budget. You can use our random team generator to create a random team of between 1-6 Pokémon using filters you specify.

The first update to the PHPokédex is also planned within the next few months to add some new features and improve user accessibility.

New Games Announced

So Junichi Masuda (he’s the director of the Pokémon games) went on Pokémon Smash this week (its a Pokémon based viraity show in Japan that replaced Pokémon Sunday a few months ago). Now anytime Junichi Masuda goes on that show, its generally a big deal and this time was no exception. This time he announced new, main series Pokémon games comeing out thisyear (in Japan anyway).

So you know how Black and White has broken most trends when its come to Pokémon games (Route numbers started again from 1, no old generation Pokémon available [until after the elite 4 anyway]) – well it’s third version of the game is breaking that trend as well. See, instead of Grey (the name we’d all been expecting) – we’re getting Black 2 AND White 2

Cue logos:

So other than this is going to be the first directly named sequel of a main game series, we dont know much more than this yet. And by much more I do mean we know 1 thing. following on the pattern brought into Platinum, an in game legendeary will be getting a new form only available in these (and probably future) games. check these out:

Can you tell who they are? Well dont worry about guessing, that’s Kyurem, the Boundry Pokémon, a Dragon/Ice type. Taking on a look of Zekrom and Reshiram, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem will be the cover art of Black2 and White 2 respectivly (the colour opposite way that Zekrom and Reshiram were cover art).

And yeah, THAT’s all we know about the games right now. They’re due for release in June in japan so expect information and news to drop regularly up till then.

And we’ll bring you that news as soon as we know it

New Download Pokemon

Hey look, I’m doing news again. We don’t have a lot of time for doing news so if anybody can help us out, drop one of us admins a PM on the forums or send us an email (address found on the contacts page) – you could really help us out.

Ok, first off lets get with the little piece of news out of the way. Remember Pokepark on the Wii? Well it’s getting a sequel. Already released in Japan at the tail end of last year, Europeans can expect to get thier hands on the new game, called Pokepark 2: Wonders beyond from March 23rd. No word on a US date of release. Pokepark 2 plays much like its predecessor, but instead of playing as just Pikachu, this time around you get to play as Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott as well as the Electric Mouse Pokemon.

Ok, now for the bit most of you might really be interested in. Got Black or White? Want a Mewtwo? If the Answer is yes to both these questions then congrats, because from February 12th both American and European games (and most likely Australian copies as well) will be able to download the first Legendary Pokemon via Wi-fi. Want to know what its like, check out this pic

At level 70, Mewtwo is in a Cherish ball with a Premier Ribbon attached (meaning no trading on the GTS). It knows Electro Ball, which it can’t normally learn, along with Aura Sphere, Shadow Ball and its signiture move Psystrike.

No date as been set for the end of this distriution but I doubt it will be up for long – So make sure to get it when you can

EDIT 7 Feb: We now know the end date of this promotion. It is available until Sunday 26th February… so download it quickly
