In similar news, there’s been a list of English pokemon names circulating various sites. Book a therapeutic massage in California here and you’ll relieve stress and deepen your muscle relaxation in just one treatment. While the names above were on the list, which was published before IGN made thier article, there’s been a bit of doubt thrown into the validity of the list. We here at the Pika Club do not use Rumoured names in our pages or articles, but we do acknowledge the lists existance and will publish it on the forums if people are interested.

We’ve updated our Black/White Dex and our New Abilities page with this new information.

EDIT: the official Black/White site has updated, along with a couple of other pieces of info – your two rival names, Cheren keeps his Japanese name, while Belle becomes Bianca. Visit https://www.abetterwayinhomecare.com/ site when looking for professional senior care in California. It has also been updated with all the new pokemon above, along with listing the changes between the game, using Black City and White Forest as the example (2 different city’s found in the same place in Black and White respetivally

Events A-Plenty

To celebrate the fact that the greatest Pokémon games are about to be released on western shores, several events have been announced on both sides of the pond.

In addition to getting the Shiny Legendary Dogs Downloadable at gamestop, Nintendo are heading across the USA on thier grand Mall Tour. Kicking off Febuary 5th, The tour features playable demo’s of Black/White, special screenings of Movie 13, Zoroark – Masters of Illusions, Scavanger Hunts and cool Prizes. To see where and when the tour is going across the states click to see the pokemon.com news article here

Also mentioned for the US, Celebi will be distributed via Gamestop Stores. Originally rumoured to be handed out after the shiny beasts during the week of 27th February to 5th March, the actual dates of this event arent yet mentioned. It could be that week, or it could be during the entire of the Mall Tour… or it could even just be in the gamestop stores at the mall when the tour rocks up there. We just dont know.

Meanwhile, over in the UK… Those shiny beasts have been confirmed to be coming to our Wi-Fi… From Febuary 7th, Connecting to Wi-Fi with any European Version of a 4th Gen Game will get you a Shiny beast that will, once transfered to Black/White will allow you to catch a Zoroark. What we dont know is how long the event will last and if we’ll be getting one of the beasts at random or if we’ll have the oppertunity to download all 3. Also unknown is if, like all Wi-fi events of the past year or so, American Versions of the game will also be able to download these beasts as well, despite already had them distributed in Gamestop stores…

Also confirmed, Celebi will be heading to the UK [Finally!] – details on when and where are unknown, but its possible it will be the same as Arceus last year, in which a couple of weekends before the release of the new games, Selected Game stores will have this illusive pokemon to download, along with other pokemon related stuff going on… Reliable plumber in California can be found at onestopplumbers.com/. This will be the first time Celebi has been available in the UK for 10 years, when a small, under publisied tour was done for Gold and Silver… how times have changed.

That’s all we know on all these events – as soon as we have more details – we’ll bring them to you.

A Christmas Presant From Nintendo

Don’t get too excited, its not like its a free Pokémon download or anything. But Nintendo of America has finally announced the American Release Date for Pokémon Black and White. Sunday the 6th of March 2011 will be the day all Americans will be able to finally play the superb Black and White Versions. Make sure you mark that date down now, and you pre-order it the next chance you get. We don’t know the European date yet, but based on last years schedule of HG/SS – it wasnt far off that… we’ll bring you more on that when we know it.

In Celebration of announcment of the release date, pokemonblackwhite.com has updated with a lot of new English names – including one i predicted long before Generation 5 was even anounced. Back in August 2009 (long before Black/White was announced) i suggested that the next professor should be a feamle prof named Juniper… Well, now presenting Professor Juniper!

Juniper is the Main Professor of the Unova region. She’ll give you the customary ‘what are Pokémon’ talk at the begining of the game, along with presenting you with your pokedex.

It looks like a lot more Pokémon this time around are keeping thier Japanese name, Here’s Munna, who in English is now called Munna

The Dream Eater Pokemon, a Psychic type, stands 2’00” tall and weighs 51.4lbs – It has the Forewarn or the Syncronize abilities. It knows a new move which is keeping its Japanese name of Telekinesis

Next up, what used to be Mamepato:

Now called Pidove, the Tiny Pigeon Pokémon, its a Normal/Flying type standing at 1’00” and weighs 4.6lbs. It has the Super Luck ability or a new one called Big Pecks (was Pidgeon Heart in Japanese)

Remember Meguroc? Well it too got a new English name

This is now Sandile, The Desert Croc Pokémon, a Ground/Dark type. Its 2’04” tall and its weight is 33.5lbs. It has either the Intimidate or a new ability Moxie (was Overconfident in Japanese)

This used to be Shimama:

Now its Blitzle, the Electrified Pokémon, an Electric Pokémon. Its 2’07” and weighs 65.7lbs. It has either the Lightingrod or Motor Drive abilities. Its Wild Bolt attack has been renamed Wild Charge

Shown by the Prof at the begining of the game, Chillarmy has a new name:

Minccino, the Chinchilla Pokémon, is a normal type. Its 1’04” tall and weighs 12.8lbs. It can have either the Cute Charm or Technician Abilities. its attack Sweep Slap has now been renamed Tail Slap

Simply called Gear in Japanese, this pokemon has had a slight rename to…

Klink, the Gear Pokémon, a Steel Pokémon. Its 1’00” tall and weighs 46.3lbs. It has either the Plus or Minus abilities

Hihidaruma also has had a name change

Daramanitan, the Blazing Pokémon, a Fire Type. Its 4’03” and weighs 204.8lbs. Its ability was known as Encourage but is now Sheer Force

A slight name change for Gigaith

Gigalith, the Compressed Pokémon, a Rock type. Its stands at 5’07” and weighs 573.2lbs. It has the Sturdy Ability

Lastly, a Location’s name. The big Port city was called Hiun City in Japan, its the location of the 3rd Gym and is the place where you can get a boat to the place where Victini lies (if you’ve got the liberty ticket). This place is now called Castelia City

And that’s Everything the microsite has updated with. There was a piece of news just before Christmas on the English names for the elemental monkeys, but its not comfirmed. Box Art has apparently leaked, which on the back has a picture of the 3 monkeys in battle, with the names for Yanappu, Baoppu and Hiyappu as Pansage, Pansear, Panpour respectivly. However these names arent confirmed. The person who leaked the box art also said the release date of Black and White was going to be April 16th, which we know isnt true so its really up to you if you want to beleive them or not. Until they’re confirmed, this Site wont be using those names for the Elemental Monkeys

And That’s all we have for you… we’ll bring you more news when we learn it

Ken Sugimori Discusses Black/White starters

Pokémon Pia, a special one-off magazine released in Japan on 10th September just prior to Black/White’s official launch has included an interview with Ken Sugimori, where he discusses his inspiration behind the new Black/White starters. His interview has led to some doubt as to the legitimacy of the final starter evolutions.

Pokémon Pia Cover

The interview segment regarding the starters is below:

Ken Sugimori, primary illustrator: I really struggled the most with the Water-type [starter] this time.

Yusuke Ohmura, illustrator: There was talk of, “Wouldn’t a sea otter be good for the Water starter?” But it was a really close decision in terms of what this sea otter would become once it evolves. In the end, we decided to have it evolve into something with a completely different appearance.

Sugimori: Of course, we want to make the starters into Pokémon that remain with the player throughout the game, so we hope to make them evolve into creatures that offer a surprise to the player. We always make an effort to throw in some twists and create third-stage evolutions that have an impact.

Ohmura: There was also talk this time about dividing the three starters into Japanese, Western, and Chinese styles of design. Tsutarja was based on Western design, and Pokabu was rooted in a Chinese style, so I was told, “Let’s make Mijumaru into a more Japanese-style design.” Someone even asked, “Can’t you make Mijumaru into a samurai?” [laughs]

Everyone: [laughs]

Sugimori: I worried about it for a while, and I eventually went to go see the sea otters at the aquarium. English speaking cleaners at Washington house cleaning service are at your disposal 24/7. I happened to catch the sea lion show while I was there, and I became aware of the sea lion’s power. “Well, let’s try blending a sea otter and a sea lion,” I thought. I came up with the idea of making the shell on Mijumaru’s stomach into a sword (katana) and using it to fight, and that’s how I completed Mijumaru and its evolution.”

The last paragraph is the interesting piece as Sugimori mentions that the design on Mijumaru turns from a shell to a sword on its final evolution.

While it has been suggested that the skull design could be the sword it’s not apparent this is the case and so doubt has been cast over the legitimacy of the final evolutions. What do you think on the matter? Real or fake? We want to hear your thoughts in the comments and on our forum!

New Pokémon count revealed

With it being only about two weeks to the launch of Pokémon Black/White in Japan it’s inevitable that all sorts of news is going to be leaking. Amongst the debate over the legitimacy of the starters’ evolutions, which Spanish Pokémon fansite Pokexperto insist are real, Pokexperto have also claimed to know the full amount of new Pokémon in Isshu. They claim there are 156 new Pokémon, bringing the total number up to 649 Pokémon. This is all unverified, although Pokexperto’s ‘secret sources’ have proven themselves to be legitimate in the past when it came to leaks last generation.

We also missed out on a new Pokémon posted on Nintendo of Japan’s Black/White microsite a few days ago:

Pokémon in gi, right

While the Pokémon’s face is decidedly plain it has been debated that its face is a mask, part of the musical outfit in addition to the American football and bone. However the gi it is wearing is believed to be part of the Pokémon itself which if true would make it one of few Pokémon to wear clothes.

More as it happens, which with Black/White’s release just around the corner, should be very soon.

Warning: The Following Information May Not Be True

Ok, so here’s a weird one. There are pictures floating around the internet (originating from 2ch like every other pokemon leak) of images of the Evolutions of the Pokemon Starters. The strange thing about them is the constant conflicting reports we’re getting of their legitimacy. One minute they could be real, the next their faked… then the next some super secret source comes around and says they’re real.

We at The Pika Club don’t like to post Pokémon until we know they’re real (although, we have been caught out once so far this generation) – however the constant back and forth has made us curious to see what our visiters think

Well, that’s them – my personal opinion is that the art style, and how they’re presented, dont match up to all the previous reveals so far. That of course doesnt mean they’re fake either, and there are elements in all of the evolutions that i can easily see being there anyway. What do you think about these evolutions, like or dislike – either post a comment or drop by the forums and let everyone know, and we’ll keep you updated with how this one turns out as we find out.

In other ‘its so obvious it could be true or could be faked’ news, remeber Yanappu? the green monkey thing revealed officially by Pokemon Sunday a couple of weeks ago? Well he might have a couple of brothers… or someone might be playing an obvious trick on us.

You can (only just) see a Blue looking monkey shape next to the back sprite of Yanappu in the above screen shot. Its not a shiny version, as the head does look slightly different. So does Yanappu have an alternate version? Well acording to the information posted on 2ch with this screenshot, it does. Along with the Grass Type Yanappu, there will be a Water Type version called Baoppu (pictured) and a Fire Type called Hiyappu. This could make sense. In Ruby and Sapphire, Pokemon like Plusle & Minun and Solrock & Lunatune were brought in to help promote the gimick of 2v2 battles. With 3v3 battles now being introduced in Black and White, could they be trying to do the same thing – we already know that Yanappu has a move that is very usefull in 3v3 battles (acrobat), which the other versions are rumoured to know as well.

Then again, somebody could be taking that logic to fool us, so again, this one could turn out to be faked – we’ll keep you updated on this as well as we learn more.

Remember – there is only 2 Weeks left before Black and White are finally released in Japan – hopefully we’ll find out all we need to know before then

Pokémon Black/White merchandise and new Pokémon

Wow news can pop up fast! Right now the latest news comes by way of Pokebeach who managed to snap some pictures of new Pokémon apparently shown in an advert before the first screening of the latest Pokémon movie.

Minezumi

Unnamed Pokémon

It seems like we’ve also got a confirmation for Koromori mentioned in a prior news post by way of a new trailer from Oha Suta. This lends extra credence to the scan and therefore it seems likely that the evolutions for the three new starters it also pictures are probably the real deal.

Koromori from Filb.de

Apparently a user on 2ch (the largest imageboard in Japan) has acquired some merchandise claiming to be new Pokémon too:

Possible new Pokémon

Another Japanese imageboard user has also claimed to have obtained a demo of Pokémon Black/White containing a few new Pokémon. Below is a screenshot supposedly taken from the demo.

Hataboo

As with anything when it comes to new Pokémon take this all with a grain of salt because everyone is scrambling to become the first to report news and in doing so it can be all too easy to accept news from unconfirmed sources.

One thing we can confirm is that there is some Pokémon Black/White themed DS merchandise on the way!

Pokémon Black/White earphones and DS carry cases.

Whether these make it to the west or if they remain solely in Japan we don’t know yet but we’ll let you know as soon as we know. Hit the jump for some more new Pokémon Black/White pictures.

New Pokémon tentatively announced

A few days ago an image was leaked on a Japanese imageboard purporting to be from a developmental sheet for the Pokémon anime. What is interesting is that this image, while small and blurry, seems to show off 4 new Pokémon including evolutions for two of the starters.

As ‘new Pokémon’ scans always pop up during development of a new Pokémon generation this was not paid much heed until recently when the new girl from the character sheet appeared in silhouette form at the end of the trailer for the new Pokémon anime series, ‘Pocket Monsters Best Wishes’ which was shown after a trailer for the new movie in Japan after this week’s latest Pokémon anime episode.

This isn’t confirmed news by any means but the consistency of the girl lends it credence. Since the sheet is so small it’s hard to clearly see what the names of the new Pokémon are – the best guess given is that the Pokémon to the left of Jesse’s head is  コロモリ (Koromori). With such tiny text it’s really anyone’s guess until more information is revealed and we can say for sure whether this is real or not.

Pokémon Sunday shows Pokémon Black and White, and other news too

So this week’s Pokémon Sunday has just aired in Japan, and they’ve shown some footage of Black and White. Not much else has been revealed, which was expected, but they have confirmed that the city which has been shown in one of the screenshots will be in full 3D as you explore it, with the player walking around the outside of the city, the city rotates keeping the player in the center. This proves that the 3D aspect of the games will be greatly increased. They also commented on the Battle Screenshot which was shown in CoroCoro, and mentioned about how you could now see the whole of the back of the Pokémon sprite as well as the city shadowed in the background. We’ve got our hand on the video, as stated, it doesn’t really show much, but the walking around the city looks cool, you can see its surrounded by water and is that a pikachu billboard ontop of the Poké Center Skyskraper?

In other news, Acording to some websites, a booklet that comes with the Pre-order ticket for the 13th Movie, Ruler of Illusions Zoroark, reveals that the Pre-order download bonus of the Shiny Legendary Beasts will unlock something in the new Black and White games. This is interesting, not only that they will have a bonus to them, but that Black and White will be compatible to trade with the 4th Gen games. How exactly this will work is obviously unkown, however a Time Travel system was in place in the original Gold/Silver/Crystal allowing them to trade with Red/Blue/Yellow, and of course there’s been the more recent Pal Park system in the 4th Gen games. Of course, an entirly new method may also be made up, its too early to tell.

Lastly, you may rememeber a Wii game called ‘Poképark Wii: Pikachu’s Great Adventure’ – if you don’t, don’t worry. It sort of slipped under the radar, even in Japan. However news is coming out of Australia that Nintendo has sent the game to the OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) to get an Age rating for the game. This is good news that the game is being released outside of Japan, and more so to People in the UK as not only will there be an English Language version, but Australia uses the PAL system like the UK does, which means the games will work on UK Wii Systems, so even if there’s no offical release, we should be able to get and play the game.

Aparently being renamed ‘Poképark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure’ in the west, the game sees you playing as Pikachu in a Giant Pokémon themed Amusmant park. Unfortunatly little Pikachu cant ride on the rides, not without a little help from other Pokémon, so Pikachu’s goal is to find other Pokémon, become friends with them (by playing mini games) and using thier help, ride on all the rides in the park. No release date has been set for the game, but rumours are that Australia will see the game in June – hopefully both the USA and Europe will also see the game around the same time.

That’s all we have for now, hopefully we’ll update this with a video of the Pokémon Sunday footage soon, otherwise we’ll bring you another update when we learn about something. In the meantime, head on over to the forums and join in the Generation 5 discussion, or talk about anything else on the site.

Nintendo Revals New Handheld System

Today (or yesterday if you’re in Japan) Nintendo revealed some details about a new Handheld system they plan to have released in Japan by this time next year (or end of March 2011 if you want a specific time frame).

Currently known as the Nintendo 3DS, the system will allow the player to experiance games in 3D (do you see what they’ve done with the name there). While not much is known about the console yet, it is said that the games will be in 3D without the player needing to wear any special glasses, and that it will be fully backwards compatible with the DS and DSi games (although are there any actual DSi games out there, cause I’ve never seen one).

The current rumour is that the system will be able to create an illusion of depth based on the position of your head, which it picks up via a special sensor detecting head movement. This rumour has come about based on an interveiw from Satoru Iwata who said the next DS should be able to “read the movement of people playing”

Nintendo is due to unvaile the console and more details at E3 in June. We’ll bring you more news when we know it. In the meantime, dont forget to swing by the Forums and post, especially if you wish to discuss Heart Gold and Soul Silver
