Legendary Pokémon

Pokémon Gold/Silver each contain a number of legendary Pokémon. Their locations differ depending on the version you play and these are listed below.

Ho-Oh

Gold: Ho-Oh can be obtained at level 40 after receiving the Rainbow Feather from the Goldenrod Radio Tower director after saving it from Team Rocket. It sits atop Tin Tower, which is located in Ecrutaek City.

Silver: Ho-Oh can be obtained at level 70 in Silver. It is at the same location as in Gold, but you will get the Rainbow Feather from a man in Pewter City. You can’t access Kanto until after you’ve beaten the Elite Four.

Lugia

Silver: Lugia can be obtained at level 40 after receiving the Silver Feather from the Goldenrod Radio Tower director after saving it from Team Rocket. It sits at the bottom of the Whirlpool Islands, which is located just before Olivine City.

Gold: Lugia can be obtained at level 70 in Gold. It is at the same location as in Gold, but you will get the Silver Feather from a man in Pewter City. You can’t access Kanto until after you’ve beaten the Elite Four.

Legendary Dogs

The three legendary dogs become available in both versions once you awaken them from Burnt Tower in Ecrutaek. They roam Johto’s grassy patches and move about. The only way to track them is by using your Pokédex. Since they flee upon entering a battle, it is recommended that you use a Pokémon that knows a move like Mean Look in order to keep them in battle.

Celebi

Although Celebi is a new legendary Pokémon introduced in Gold/Silver, it cannot be obtained by any normal means and must be either cheated or obtained from an event.
