Shinou = Shin'ou

Post by Pikachu3828 »

I was speaking to the webmaster of filb, someone quite proficient in Japanese and after an interesting conversation I will be changing the spelling of Shinou to Shin'ou throughout the site as it is more technically correct. (Shin'ō is the most technically correct name but I will be using Shin'ou as not all computers may display the character "ō")

For those interested, here is why:
"Shinou" has a different pronounciation than "Shin'ou". In Japanese, there's a character for "n" and one for "no". Therefore, in order to avoid confusion, it should be written with a ' sign after the "n". If you write "Shinou", it's actually "Shi-no-u" (シノウ). So, only way to avoid confusion, it has to be written "Shin'ou", which is "Shi-n-o-u" (シンオウ).
