Does it always do 140 damage like Dragon Rage or is 140 it's base power? Either way that's extremely powerful :shocked:

It's like over heat and that Pycho Boost. It loses power after use.

I think's it is the base power. So you are telling us that this attack is likely to be used by n00b trainers who want a strong attack but doesn't realize it's downfall? Is there any news from any Pokemon website source? I didn't see it on Bulbanews yet.

I herd of it on both Pokemonelite2000 and Serebii. Yea, I wouldn't use it, something a N00b would use. I didn't think it'd be too important, but I thought some one would be interested. Really it seemed useless.

it's accuracy will probably suck and it's pp will be low... so it'd be like fire blast... you can waste it's entire pp and never hit - but that once in a blue moon it does hit - you pretty much could mot opponents every match

Seems more like Blizzard to me. I think this attack should be scrapped and thrown into the trash.
Bulbanews wrote: The name of the new powerful Dragon-type attack for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl has been announced in the May issue of CoroCoro. The contest was announced in the January issue, where the statistics for this attack were revealed.

* Name: りゅうせいぐん Meteoric Swarm
* Attack type: Dragon
* Base power: 140
* Effect: Sharply lowers Sp. Attack (two-step reduction)

It is yet unknown whether the attack will be learned by a variety of Pokémon by means of TM, as is the case with Overheat in the Generation III games. Another possiblity is for the attack to be exclusive to a legendary Pokémon, similar to Deoxys' Psycho Boost.
BTW, Overheat sucks more than Fire Blast.

It's a logic guess at its stats... but it's still just a guess. We dont know this is going to be a dragon version of Overheat even if it seems that way.

I'd still take Overheat over fire blast anyway... better chance of hitting, stronger hit... and i can always get rid of the negative stat reduction via a berry or switching out

Are dragon type moves physical or special? I'm guessing special from the two-stat reduction, and if it gives you a two-stat reduction then logically it must be 140 base damage, making it the most powerful Pokémon move in a game to date.

Dragon is Special Attack.

And there are several moves with base attack power greater than 140 including:

Blast Burn
Eruption
Focus Punch
Frenzy Plany
Hydro Cannon
Hyper Beam
Water Spout

All at 150 base power. And notice how three of those are the special move tutor moves for the Bulbasuar, Charmander and Squirtle lines.

Hmm, thank you for correcting me, my Pokémon knowledge is not as sharp as it should be :lol:

Now, correct me if I'm wrong on this, but aren't most dragon types physical fighters? Like Dragonite, Gyarados...?

So are dark moves like Bite and Crunch... but both Dark and Dragon type moves work of special attack

Dont ask me why - I dont make the games, just play them

(and technically Gyarados isnt a dragon type)

But, what if you run out of barries, and all your pokemon faint? Use Focus Band instead, but it also has low PP. there are ploblams everywhere with super stong Attack. that's Flamthower better then over heat and Fire blast.

Ratios + Ratias = Special Attackers.
This could make Ratios esentially unstoppable...his SPATK is already insanely high, this move will OHKO most pogeys with soul dew, then get his SPATK down to normal level...then he can switch to Ratias then do the same...
