What do you think of HG/SS now you've played it?

Post by WhoKnows_WhoCares »

Well the game is finally out in America, and its less than 2 weeks for both Australian and European releases as well.

So i thought I'd make a topic to discuss the game in gerneral, what you think of it, how it compares to the originals, all the little additional touches that have been added to the game (mostly be the touch screen stuff i'd imagine) Just anything really.

Indeed, I'm waiting for the UK release rather than importing this because I'd have no time to play it at university. The UK release is coinciding nicely with the easter holiday, however :-D

I went to a Pokemon Event in London to get Arceus and I got to play some HG/SS they had on display. From what I've played, I quite like it.

I just got my copy of SoulSilver today. For the time that I've played it, it's pretty cool and is as fun as I thought it would be. The visuals are an improvement over the engine's last games and the music covers are quite good. The Pokéwalker isn't bad, either. It only beeps when you interact with it, and those can be turned off, so it's not annoying like a Tamagotchi. I'm not far yet, but I'm taking my time to enjoy the title.

I'm about 2 days into playing this now and i'm really enjoying it. Took me a couple of hours to adapt to the new control scheme, and the way everything is layed out... loving the touch screen use in the PC box, being able to just drag and drop pokemon in and out of the party is very useful (after you've pressed the button to move the party to the right of the screen) and the way that you can now see a lot more of the stats of the pokemon when you highlight them in the box...

yeah, its the little touches i really like about the game, i knew it would be

well I haven't been able to beat the game yet, since I am still in school, but I have to say it is what I expected..... that is it being pretty much the same as before with a few minor changes

I don't think that it isn't as "Good" but that it isn't the same experience as it was before. When the original GS was released it was such a mystery that it created it's own legacy. The new game, being basically the same with obvious new additions just has a nice sense of nostalgia.

I personally love it, traded everything I had from D,P,PL over to it... Johto rocks.

Unfortunately I've yet to play HG/SS still as I've been very busy but with it sounding like it is simply "more of the same" I'm not sure if I will end up playing. I loved Pokémon Gold to bits but I would prefer something new over a remake, perhaps I'll just wait for Black/White.

yeah a friend of mine was telling me several monthes ago that the elite four was much harder than the older games and that either lugia or ho-oh was needed to beat them..... I didn't use either of them and still beat the elite four with out much difficulty, Lance was the only announce. The pokemon I used to beat the elite four was; meganium, umbreon, sudowoodo, furret.... forgot the last two sorry.
